Topic 1: Major and study
What’s your major? Why did you choose your major?
I major in Civil Engineering/Digital Marketing. I chose it simply because I wanted to follow my father’s footstep to become a civil engineer.
What do you like most about your studies?
Well, what I like most about my major is to be working outside because I don’t want to glue my eyes to computer screen all days, which is harmful to health.
Is there anything you don’t like about your studies?
Well, I’m not interested in learning by heart to much because I think rote learning and duck feeding are not effective ways to gain knowledge.
How do you like your life in the university?
I enjoy my university life simply because I can meet people from all walks of life to expand my social circle.
Is your university a good place to study?
Yes, Melbourne University (your university) is renowned for good teaching quality and inspiring professors.
What do you think of the training you got in the university?
Well, it is not good as I expected. The curriculum/ syllabus is outdated/ such a dinosaur/ obsolete and the facilities are shabby and run down.

Where do you work?
I’m currently working in a prestigious university – Melbourne University (your university).
When do you go to work every day?
I’m required to show up at 8 o’clock. However, once in blue moon, I was late because of heavy traffic/ crowded road.
How do you get to work?
On a daily basis, I ride a motorbike to work because it is convenient and it is the best vehicle to fight through the traffic.
What do you do for a living?
I work as a lecturer. This job helps me to make ends meet.
Tell me about a typical day at work?
Most of my time, I spend meeting my students, answering their quests and teaching them.
What do you like most about your job?
I’m really into my job because it is a well-paid job. Furthermore, working environment is dynamic and colleges are supportive.
