What kinds of people do children in your country wish to be like when they grow up?
Some children wish to follow their parents’ footstep and are constantly bragging about their daddy and mommy. However, there are some others who are disciplined too much by their parents, and thus, they dream of becoming a superstar to be financially independent from their parents.
Do you think it is good for children and young people to use entertainment stars as role models?
From my own perspective, it depends on which stars children are looking up to. There are nice celebrities who can set good example for youngsters. However, on the opposite side, many renowned people who are known for their scandals should not be promoted as a role model.
Why do some companies use famous people to advertise products?
Well, in my opinion, this is because businesses hope to use celebrities’ fame for their own sake. With celebrity endorsement, it is easier for products to make a hit with consumers.
Do you think this is good?
In one sense, it is, since it helps businesses’ sales increase/ escalate which prospers the economy. Consequently, production and transportation are pushed up, while the unemployment rate travels in the opposite direction.
How do parents influence the development of children?
During the development of children, which is also their most vulnerable stage of life, their parents are always on their side. Every words, movement and action of the adults has an effect on the young minds.
How is the way children are brought up today in Vietnam different from when your parents were young?
Well, from my own perspective, children nowadays are in one- or two-child homes, so there is a lot of attention from their parents. However, in the olden days, each family had 5 or 6 siblings and they were neglected.
In your opinion, at what age do young people become independent of their parents?
Well, I hold a belief that regardless of age, people become independent of their parents once they can fully finance themselves. This stage occurs to different people at different age.
