Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerned about implementing the school curriculum/ syllabus for children’s comprehensive development. While some people claim that science and technology are important subjects, we should not neglect education in arts and humanities.
First, it is obvious that science and technology play an indispensable role in the advancement of society. Due to the proliferation of technology and the Internet, we human can develop global economy at a startling rate. Machines relieve people from manual labor and thanks to this, people lead a full material life. In actual fact, the apparent gap between the wealthy and poor countries nowadays is also caused by the imbalance of technologies. By advancing new breakthroughs, under-developed and developing countries/ nations can have chances to catch up with developed ones. Hence, youngsters have to learn science and technology to make a new generation.
As for arts and humanities, it is argued that students have chance to gain a better vision of the past and realize how the world has changed. It is said that by learning history, we not only learn about the past with mistakes, but we also learn about future. Besides, literature and language lessons enable us to have critical thinking. Meanwhile, fine arts make us feel the beauty of objects and humans.
Ultimately, the authorities should be fully aware of the importance of the different subjects to the all-rounded development of students to have proper balance.
