The table illustrates the number of students who came from/ the number of students coming from four different countries to attend university in a Western country in 2000 and 2005.
Overall, there was/ witnessed a significant downward trend in the number of overseas students over the years.
In particular, in 2000, China was the nation with the biggest number of students to study university in this country, at 35,000. This was followed by the number of students from India, at less than half, at 15,000. A mere 6,000 and 2,000 students from Japan and Brazil came to study university in this Western country respectively.
As for the year 2005, China was still the nation/ remained the nation with the biggest number of students to study university in this country, at 22,000. The second and third position belonged to India and Brazil, at 16,000 and 8,000 respectively. The least/ lowest number of students came from/ originated from Japan, at a mere/ a negligible 4,000.
