There are some different ways of asking this question, but these are the two basic types and there are two types.
Because with one of them, the first one, your job is simply to explain, to explain advantages and disadvantages. However, in the second one, your job is to take aside. You are supposed to say whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. You need to present your opinion in this case about what you think is best for whatever topic is presented to you.
In the first type, you simply report advantages and disadvantages. You do not need to take it aside. In the second one, you do need to take it aside. However, no matter which question type you have, no matter which way they ask you the question, you will most of the time want to write two body paragraphs for this essay.
In the first body paragraph, you can focus on advantages or you can write about disadvantages first. It does not matter. But for the case of just this explanation, let's say, we write the first paragraph about advantages. Then as you guessed, the second body paragraph should be describing the disadvantages.
