Nowadays a lot of charities and organizations have set up a number of special days to attract people’s attention, like National Children’s Day and National Non-Smoking day.
Why do they do so and what will the effects be?

This essay will analyze several reasons why some charities have used special days to attract attention to their causes and suggest what the effects of this might be.
Obviously, the main thing for charities is to raise money. They have to compete with a lot of other charitable organizations for people’s attention and money. If one charity starts using a particular method to raise funds, other charities are likely to follow. Hence, when one charity decides to designate a particular day for a particular fund-raising event, others are sure to do the same. Therefore, our calendar is full of them.
As for the effect of this situation, as the aim of these special days is to raise money, an important effect is that there are a lot of public fund-raising events where people can not only give money, but also volunteer their time or items. The effect of publishing the charity and its work may be of equal importance to that of raising money.
To conclude, I think that charities have such days to increase awareness of the public who are volunteers and to raise money.
