    Topic: Photography

    Do you like taking photographs?

Yes, absolutely yes, photography is a form of art that is used to capture precious moments to convey messages to others. [Crack IELTS with Rob] It is also a brilliant way to brighten up my mood as well as keeping valuable memories.

What are some situations when people take photographs?

It used to be solely on special days to be able to photograph precious moments for memories like New Year or Festivals. [Crack IELTS with Rob] However, with the proliferation of technology, mobile phone is integrated with camera feature with high resolution hence photography is becoming less complicated and everyone can take selfies everywhere at any time they want.

Can you give me an example of a happy time when you took a photograph?

I took a lot of photographs but the most memorable one would be the one I took when I went for a dip in the sky pool in Singapore. This is one of the most stunning infinity pools in the world where people should pay a visit once in their lives.

(I’m such an optimistic person hence I take photos every time everywhere I want to capture the best of me)

Why do some people dislike taking photographs?

There are a variety of reasons why people aren’t keen on taking photographs. [Crack IELTS with Rob] Because they don’t look that photogenic in the pictures, photos don’t show their beauty justice. For some people, they can deal with/ experience/ have scopo-phobia – a fear of being seen and stared at by others, including cameras.

Compare old cameras with those in use today?

    - Old camera: less expensive, take much more work to do, photographers have to print themselves in order to get the best pictures in the darkroom, otherwise, they can be junk.

    - Digital camera: cost an arm and a leg, easy to use even with bluebird, easy to print.

Compare the photos that you take with those that professional photographers take?

The picture that professional photographers took is way/ by far better than the picture that amateurs took. [Crack IELTS with Rob] Simply because, the photographers are very much aware of the angles, the lights and the moment that they can capture while bluebirds only take pictures because they think that it’s beautiful.

Some people prefer to take still photographs while others prefer to make videos. Why?

It is interesting since they are both good for treasuring memorable moments. Videos show us how the whole capturing process is done with behind-the-scenes footage, while photographs give us the best moment of the entire time. So it depends on people’s preferences.

Do you think still photographs will be replaced by video in the future?

Obviously, not, it requires steady hands with skills to record a video/ footage, so not many people are in favor of videos. [Crack IELTS with Rob] Photographing is way easier in general to be able to capture greatest moment.
