Writing Task 2 (Academic)
Nowadays, there is a great concern about children’s education, among which is the elite policy. It means the intelligent students should be selected and given special treatment. From my own perspective, this is both a blessing and a curse.
First, it is obvious that separating students means that teachers can employ different strategies suitable for each group of pupils. In particular, the more intelligent students often have quicker mind and stronger thirst for knowledge, teachers can include some plans more difficult and complex in their syllabus, catering for special needs. Meanwhile, for some other students who are not that intelligent and are slow at learning new knowledge and skills, a suitable teaching strategy is necessary.
However, there are some opponents of elite policy and they claim that this is a violation of individual rights and everyone should be created equally regardless of their intelligence. Evenly, they hold the idea that less intelligent students should be mixed with excellent ones to have chance to compare themselves with their peers. In this case, they have more motivation to give more effort.
In conclusion, I think that separating students has got its both pros and cons and we should base on specific situations to identify which type of education suits better.
